In this short article I share with you why this serene wilderness, Savuti is one of my favorite places to be when I am not crafting experiences for our guests.
Why I Love Savuti
Savuti holds a special place in my heart and the hearts of the SKL team. It’s a land of contrasts, where lush marshlands give way to vast savannahs, and where every sunrise brings a new adventure. Our campsites in Savuti offer a front-row seat to nature’s spectacle, with each day promising thrilling wildlife encounters and awe-inspiring scenery.
Camp Savuti on the other hand promises a different experience all together, with great views of Wildlife from one of tents. Going on a game drive from Camp Savuti is an awesome experience leaving the private camp to enjoy the game viewing experience in the Chobe National Park.
The guided game drives allow you to understand more about the area and hear from the inhabitants of the land who live alongside the wildlife most of their year to share their experiences with you.
What to Expect when you Visit Savuti
As someone who has spent countless hours in the wilds of Savuti, I can assure you that allowing yourself adequate time here (a minimum of three to four days is recommended) will be an experience like no other. With each passing moment, you’ll find yourself immersed in the rhythm of the savannah, surrounded by an abundance of life.
During your stay, expect to encounter nearly all the major species that call Savuti home: giraffe gracefully roaming the plains, elephants lumbering through the bush, and zebras mingling with herds of wildebeest. The air is filled with the sounds of wildlife, from the distant calls of hyenas to the thundering footsteps of buffalo herds.
And let’s not forget about the predators that roam these lands. Lions survey their kingdom from atop rocky outcrops, while hyenas and jackals lurk in the shadows, ever watchful for an opportunity. If luck is on your side, you may even catch a glimpse of the elusive cheetah, racing across the savannah in pursuit of its next meal.
But perhaps the most magical moments are those spent under the star-studded sky, gathered around the campfire with fellow adventurers, sharing stories of the day’s sightings and marveling at the wonders of the African bush. So, take your time in Savuti, savoring each moment and allowing yourself to become fully immersed in the beauty and excitement of this untamed wilderness.
